Bri Nichols of DARRC Coalition, an activist and former candidate for Brockton's Ward 7's City Council seat, said the case shows why the city needs a civilian review board with subpoena power.
“Today, where we are almost 60 years removed from his speech, we’re still not as free as we could be,” said coach Bri Nichols, a member of the DARRC Coalition of Brockton.
Five years ago, Bri Nichols left the third homeless shelter she had lived in with her daughter and started on her path to self-sufficiency.
Although Brockton students returned to school virtually, Bri Nichols wanted to make sure students felt ready for the new school year... through her nonprofit Resilient Roses Respite Corp., put together a community event — Look The Part For Remote Start!
Bri Nichols, a young activist known locally on social media as Coach Bri, said she organized the event as a way to “rebuild relations” between Black youth in Brockton and a police department whose budget and operations they’re hoping to bring under closer control of the community.
Four years ago, Brockton resident Bri Nichols was homeless and pregnant. Now, she’s supporting herself and her daughter, and giving back to others who are struggling.
